An Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a voluntary, work-based program that offers free and confidential assessments, short-term counseling, referrals, and follow-up services to employees who have personal and/or work-related problems.

According to the EAP Association Workplace Outcomes Report (April 2022) - The estimated hours of lost productive time associated with presenteeism (or not being able to concentrate due to personal problems) was reduced from 57.2 hours per month missed per employee to 35.7 hours per month through counseling EAP programs.
